If you want to see results, if you want to improve; then you have to be consistent.

You dream of all the goals and luxuries you desire, then wake up. You get excited and get down to work. The first day — everything is wonderful; then the second — a little excitement goes away; and by the end of the week — you start wondering “Is it right to focus all my energy on this, is it too hard for me?”.

Simply put, you start giving up on your dreams. You start looking for easier ways or mantras for success.

Let me clear it up for you.

There is only one mantra to succeed. But you don’t have to chant it for it to work. You have to act upon it.

It’s called “Consistency” — Showing up every day no matter what.

“Do it again and again. Consistency makes the raindrops create holes in the rock. Whatever is difficult can be done easily with regular attendance, attention and action.”

-Israelmore Ayivor, The Great Hand Book of Quotes

Consistency is a rare virtue that separates the successful from the rest. Whether you like it or not — you get up and do the job. That’s it. That’s what consistency is all about, and that’s what brings success.

Consistency Sparks Momentum

Working for 15 minutes a day is more powerful than working 2 hours a week.

Showing up once a week breaks the flow. You are more likely to give up on your goals when you are irregular.

When you show up every day to work, you create a state of motion. Your brain becomes accustomed to the task. You learn and retain things at a faster pace. Every day you bring fresh ideas and perspective which keeps you in the game for the long run.

Consistency Ignites Will Power

You employ your energy, attention, and willpower every time you make a decision. When you become consistent, you drop the necessity to make decisions every time you get to work. You know the one task you have to do and dive straight into it.

When you relieve yourself from making decisions every time you work, you devote all your attention to the task at hand.

Too Much Strain Translates into Quicker Burnouts

Show up every day. It is your duty to stay on track and avoid all distractions. If you are more prone to stay loyal to your goals when you are accountable to others, do it. Tell your friends, family, or someone you trust.

Even after that, you might slip up once in a while. It’s completely okay. Don’t be too hard on yourself. But don’t let it become a habit.

Take a break, but get back up stronger than before.

Don’t Give Up

It’s all fun and games when you start out. It is when all the excitement drains out that your fate is decided — whether you’ll succeed or fail.

Showing up daily is boring and tough. Even if it is for an hour, you doubt whether it’s leading you anywhere. But it is. You are climbing the ladder one step at a time. It will surely take time, but you will reach the top. You are digging the ground with one shovel a day, but eventually, you will get the gold. Keep pushing.

Think like this.

If you do 1% every day, then you will be 100% better in 100 days. And you will be 365% better in a year.

That’s how consistency works.

Consistency is a journey — a journey that is long and tedious, but you have to go through it to reach your destination. It builds up through every small step you take and brings greater results.

Consistency is not easy. It is a learned skill you develop with practice.

It takes courage and determination to show up every single day. However, once you achieve that goal, the rewards are worth more than all the efforts.
